How to use T-Inventory Barcode App

The T-Inventory Barcode App transforms your CSV or spreadsheet data into barcode labels suitable for small businesses and pop-up shops. Follow the steps below to use the application effectively.

Step 1 - Building Your Spreadsheet

  1. Open the Example Spreadsheet: Use this link to open an example spreadsheet.
  2. Make a Copy:Go to File > Make a Copy to create your editable version.

Your spreadsheet should contain the following columns:

  • sku: Your SKU identifier (required)
  • text1: Text above the barcode (optional)
  • text2: Text below the barcode (optional)
  • price: Price information (optional)
  • quantity: Number of labels to generate (optional)

Note: Column order doesn't matter. For example, sku can be in column 1, 5, or 10.

Step 2a - Importing Your Data (Google Sheets)

  1. Get the Google Sheets Link:Press the Share button in Google Sheets (top right) and copy the link.
  2. Import Data into Barcode App:In the Barcode App, press the Google Sheet Link tab.
    Paste the copied link into the Google Sheets URL field.
    Click FETCH GOOGLE SHEET, then CREATE BARCODE.

Step 2b - Importing Your Data (CSV)

  1. Export CSV from Excel:Go to File > Save As.
    Select a location and choose CSV (Comma delimited) as the file type.
    Click Save.
  2. Prepare CSV Data:Open the saved CSV file in Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (MacOS).
    Select all text (Ctrl+A/Cmd+A) and copy it (Ctrl+C/Cmd+C).
  3. Import CSV into Barcode App:In the Barcode App, click the Text tab.
    Select all existing text in Text CSV Input (Ctrl+A/Cmd+A).
    Paste your copied CSV text (Ctrl+V/Cmd+V).

Step 3 - Select Barcode Label Type and Size

  1. Choose Barcode Type:Use the Barcode Type dropdown to select your desired barcode format (e.g. code128, QRCode).
  2. Choose Barcode Size:Use the Barcode Size dropdown to select label dimensions (e.g. 2” x 1”).

Step 4 - Preview Your Barcode Label

  1. Check the Preview:Press the CREATE BARCODES button to generate a preview using the first row of your data.
    Assess the label to ensure accuracy.

Note: To update the data, press CREATE BARCODES and, if using Google Sheets, FETCH GOOGLE SHEET again.

Step 5 - Download Your Barcode Label PDF

  1. Download PDF:If the preview looks correct, press CREATE BARCODES and then DOWNLOAD PDF to download your barcode label sheet.
    Open the PDF from your downloads folder and verify its accuracy before printing.
